The Sun In The Far Ultraviolet

This is from an image of the sun taken on September 25, 2011 at a wavelength of 171 Å (a much shorter wavelength than the 4000 Å – 7000 Å range of the visual spectrum) where the image is dominated by the high-temperature gases in the outer atmosphere of the sun.
