Council Finances

When the Constitutional Committee was designing the NFA's Constitution, we realised that we could not charge prospective members a fee to cover costs until the Council had demonstrated in very practical ways the benefits it could bring to the Community. Hence, we decided to seek start-up funding for the first year from grants and donations. Our anticipated expenditure for the year is £25,000. Most of this will go to pay the two Listener-Conveners, who are full-time paid employees of the Association. The rest will go on operating expenses including things such as office rental, phone, postage, stationery, photocopying, and production of this Newsletter, the Vision brochure and the Code of Ethics.

To date, we have had a very generous donation of £5,000 from our friend Shin. We have also been offered another £5,000 by the Hygeia Foundation provided we raise a matching amount within the Community. We plan to hold regular 'fun-raising' events throughout the year with the dual purpose of building community as well as raising money. The first event, an Italian meal and evening's entertainment in the Community Centre was held at the end of May. It was a resounding success, raising over £600. Depending on its progress within the next few months, the proposed Consumer Co-operative may also be able to make a significant contribution. But more is needed.
