Editorial

Welcome to the first issue of "Council Matters"! We hope it will be a regular way of communicating between NFA members, the Council, our network of supporters, and the people of Moray. So please send us feedback, articles and community information for the next issue.

Since the Council was elected in March, we've often been asked: "What are you doing?" We've actually been very busy getting things going, but there haven't been many visible outcomes. Now, the many news items in this issue reveal just how much has been achieved in a short time.

Another frequent question has been "What's in it for me?" Again, inklings of the great benefits the NFA will bring are apparent in this issue. On another level, however, this is an inappropriate question. The NFA is not a government department providing benefits to clients. It's all of us coming together to help each other and the whole Community to grow and evolve towards our highest potentials. We should be asking "What can I do to help?" not "What can I get for myself?"

The great potential of this Community will be realised only if we all get behind the Council and support it in whatever ways we can. Already the pace is telling on the 12 voluntary Councillors and the two Listener-Conveners, and we must avoid burn-out. Please help us by:

Enjoy your reading, and I hope you catch our sense of excitement about the potential of the NFA and the future of our community.
